Sarekoube Manekineko has his right paw raised to attract money — he is all about business. His donburi bodysuit is adorned with skulls and flames. Donburi describes a torso tattooed fully across the front, with a half-moon dip at the top center that echoes the shape of a donburi bowl. That level of tattooing takes a great deal of time, and speaks to the perseverance of the wearer.

The skulls ward off evil, and they let the world know that Sarekoube Manekineko does not fear death. He has luck on his side and he is here to help you make some money. Even the bell on his collar is skull-shaped — and gold, for the money.

The Monmon Maneki Neko series

You have all seen the maneki neko — those cute cats at Japanese restaurants and businesses, beckoning people in and welcoming customers. These cats were born toward the end of the Edo period, in the mid-1800s, out of folk belief, and became a good-luck talisman for business — a tradition that continues today in Japan and all over the world.

Horitomo turns his knowledge and skill in Japanese traditional tattooing to the ubiquitous maneki neko. Like all of Horitomo's cats, each tattoo is rich with cultural significance and meaning. Which one will bring you the most luck? Better not to risk it — collect them all.
